Open call for creators and creatives of sound art, experimental compositions, sonic chatter, noise, and others.

Invitation to the co-creation of a VozTerra album—Sounds from your Window, inspired by the sounds of the Van der Hammnen Reserve, Bogotá.

We believe in sound diversity as an expression of the plurality of artistic expressions; for this reason, this invitation is also a call for expression from creative freedom and reflection during the historical events we are undergoing.

VozTerra invites you to participate in the co-creation of the album: The Sounds from your Window. This digital compilation album will collect sound pieces from various artists, creators of sound art, experimental compositions, sonic thinkering, noise, and others, inspired by the sound material available in second chapter on VozTerra’s platform: Van der Hammen Reserve and recordings made from the windows in different parts of the world.

The VozTerra Collective, in alliance with the Museum for The United Nations—UN Live, aims to raise awareness of climate change and biodiversity through sound. VozTerra enables you to listen to "the voice of ecosystems" that are close to cities, as well as the voice of its people, and, also, leave messages

Here is how the open call works:

Creation of the work:

Create a sound piece (mixed and mastered) in which some of the sound materials from VozTerra are used as creative input. Additionally, you can record sounds from your own window to integrate them to your work, or use other “sounds from windows” that we’ll make available for you. We’ll create a folder with your name in which you can access:

• Soundscapes and testimonies of the people of the Van der Hammen Reserve.

• Soundscapes and recorded messages from other people's windows —that we received during these months of confinement (more info at: https://bit.ly/vozterra-ventana )

Sending your material:

the piece must be sent by email or via Wetransfer to vozterra.com@gmail.com by, and no later than, September 30th —the pieces must be mixed, and ready to be mastered.

Publication and promotion:

A total of 15 pieces will be selected to create the digital album that will be released by VozTerra to digital platforms like Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, etc. The date is yet to be defined.

Video — The Making Of:

We’ll make a documentary video portraying the creative process of the musicians at “home.” We would like to have some footage of your process to include in this video. We’ll be sending you an email with the details for the footage, and some questions and requests from the director, so you can send your material for the creation of the Making Of.

Contractual Agreement:

the participation of artists and creators in this project will be unpaid. The proprietary rights over the work will remain 50% each, between the invited musician and VozTerra. VozTerra will have 100% of the phonogram, in its capacity as a phonographic producer. VozTerra, as a non-profit organization, will donate 50% of the funds raised by the phonogram for this album to Llorona Records Foundation. The money will be allocated to support the elderly masters of traditional Colombian music in different regions of Colombia (Timbiquí, Guapi, Tumaco, Providencia, San Jacinto) in order to support the conservation of traditional and ancestral cultures in our country. The remaining 50% of the funds will be used for the management and development of a new chapter on the VozTerra platform. ( Artists contract attached)
